Get started

This page takes you from an empty Windows computer to a first scanned and authenticated document. Each step links to the full instructions.

Before you start

Section titled “Before you start”
  • A computer that meets the system requirements: 64-bit Windows 11, 10, 8.1 or 8, an Intel i5 or better, 8 GB of RAM and 10 GB of disk space.
  • A supported document reader, disconnected from the computer until the drivers are installed.
  • The AssureID Sentinel installation package and your 26-character licence key, both from the GBG support website (see how to download software).
  • A Windows account in the computer’s Administrators group.

Steps

Section titled “Steps”
  1. Install the device drivers. Run the i-Dentify Document Reader Drivers installer and choose Complete, or Custom for a particular reader.
  2. Install the software. Run the AssureID Sentinel installer, enter the licence key when asked, and choose whether to join the Customer Experience Program.
  3. Activate the licence. The installer starts License Activation; activation over the internet is the normal choice. Without internet access, activate by email or through a local License Server.
  4. Check the Document Library. The release includes the latest library; a newer one may be available to download.
  5. Connect the document reader, then open Reveal ID from the Start menu. The Home page shows the reader when the AssureID service is running.
  6. Scan a document. The Results page shows the data read from it and, with an Authentication licence, the result of the authentication tests.

Check it worked

Section titled “Check it worked”
  • The AssureID icon is in the system tray and AssureID Settings opens from it.
  • Reveal ID shows Ready with the reader’s name, and a scanned document produces a result.
