Get started with InfinitID

InfinitID is a standalone scanner with its own processor that runs the AssureID Sentinel authentication software without a separate computer. Each device is provisioned by scanning a printed QR code that carries its network settings, licence and options. This page is the short version; Provisioning a device with a QR code has every setting.

You need an account on the GBG Support Portal, and a support ticket to register each InfinitID device by its serial number. The portal is where you make enquiries, report problems, download software, and request repairs or replacements; it also has knowledge base articles and answers to frequent questions.

Sign up for GBG Customer Support

  1. Go to gbgamericas.my.site.com/support.
  2. Click the Sign Up tab. Enter your email and create a password (at least 8 characters, with lower and upper case letters, a number and a special character), then click SIGN UP. GBG sends an email with a link to verify your address.
  3. In the email, click VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT. You must verify your account before you can log in.

Log in and open a ticket

  1. Go to gbgamericas.my.site.com/support and click LOGIN.
  2. Click TICKETS, then New Ticket.
  3. In the Category list, select Technical Support.
  4. Fill in the ticket, selecting InfinitID as the device model and giving the device’s serial number, then click Create Ticket. GBG Support then enables the InfinitID software on the Downloads page of the portal for you.

Download and install the provisioning application

  1. On the portal’s main page, click DOWNLOADS. The Downloads page asks you to log in again with the same credentials.
  2. Scroll to the InfinitID section and expand the folder.
  3. In the ACTIONS column, click the download icon for InfinitID Setup.exe.
  4. Run InfinitID Setup.exe on the computer where you will generate QR codes.

Create a QR code

  1. Start the InfinitID application. The Network Settings tab opens.
  2. Tick Include in barcode and enter the network settings. For a wired connection with DHCP, keep the defaults. For WiFi, enter the SSID and password.
  3. If you use the LexisNexis TrueID web service, open the TrueID tab, tick Include in barcode and enter the TrueID settings. Otherwise skip this step.
  4. On the License tab, tick Include in barcode and enter the 26-character licence key GBG gave you at purchase.
  5. Click Generate QR Barcode, then Print.

Provision the device

  1. Power on the device. The LEDs flash blue while it starts and turn solid blue when it is ready.
  2. Place the printed QR code face down on the device. The scan starts by itself.
  3. Green LEDs mean the device took the settings. Red LEDs mean the scan failed: a weak WiFi signal or a poor Ethernet connection is the usual cause, so check the signal where the device sits and scan again. If it fails again, contact GBG Technical Support.

The device detects a document placed on the platen. For the best results:

  • After you place the document, take your hand away.
  • When the flip LED flashes, lift the document right off and place it back face down, so the device can tell it was turned over.

LED states and beeps lists what every light and beep means during loading, provisioning and scanning.
