Frequently asked questions
This section answers some frequently asked questions about AssureID.
What kind of authentication tests does AssureID perform?
Section titled “What kind of authentication tests does AssureID perform?”AssureID performs a number of tests on a document to determine its authenticity. Each document type in the AssureID Document Library contains a defined set of individual authentication tests that is relevant for that particular document type only. A typical document will be subjected to 10–50 individual authentication tests.
How does an individual result differ from an overall document result?
Section titled “How does an individual result differ from an overall document result?”The failure of a single authentication test will not necessarily result in overall document authentication failure. The sensitivity of the individual tests may be reduced, resulting in fewer false rejects (authentic documents being flagged as suspect). In most cases, fraudulent documents will tend to fail more than one authentication test.
What is a native field?
Section titled “What is a native field?”Some documents (such as passports) contain information in two or more languages, typically one that uses a Latin-based alphabet and another that uses a non-Latin alphabet. AssureID returns the Latin version as the normal field and the secondary language version as the native field. If the only field present is non- Latin, it may be returned as either the normal or native field.
Why did I get an Unknown result?
Section titled “Why did I get an Unknown result?”If a document could not be classified, it could indicate a problem such as a blurred image, bad position on the reader, or other issues associated with the device used to scan the document. In some cases, it might mean that AssureID was unable to find a supported document type to match.
What is authentication sensitivity?
Section titled “What is authentication sensitivity?”You can set the authentication sensitivity to Low, Normal (default), or High depending on your business rules. GBG recommends using the Normal setting.
Which authentication tests are hardware-dependent?
Section titled “Which authentication tests are hardware-dependent?”AssureID data handling and authentication differs when using a mobile capture device versus an ID or passport scanner.
