Common Questions and Answers

Q: What devices we tested with:

A: We did at least a Sanity test on 8.1.1:

  • Pixel
  • OnePlus5
  • Samsung S7
  • Samsung S8
  • Samsung S8 Note
  • Samsung S6 Edge
  • Samsung A3
  • Samsung J3
  • HTC A9
  • LG G6
  • Sony Xperia z5

Tested on 8.3, there was no extensive testing on 8.2:

  • OnePlus5
  • Samsung S8
  • Samsung S9 Note
  • Samsung S6 and Edge
  • Samsung S5
  • HTC M8

Q: Which documents are supported?

A: We offer document coverage offline (on device) and with an online backend server.

  • Server: supports wider range of documents and mostly depends on your contract.
  • Offline: supports specific range of documents on mobile device itself.

Q: With offline smart capture, which documents are supported?

A: We support all ICAO compliant documents and specific packages of documents. We mostly name our packages by area we support + ICAO. For other profiles availability please contact your technical account manager (supportcase@idscan.com).

Q: Can we add different model packs?

A: Yes, we are supporting Hot-Swap feature from 8.2. Please refer to Swapping section.

Q: Can we customize UI layout?

A: We offer functional customisations only. Hiding or showing buttons on camera and showing dialog on camera screen.

Q: Can I add multiple A4 documents to journey?

A: If A4 are set as Optional, you can send A4 document to the server under the same Journey ID.

Q: Battery performance using Smart Capture (Camera) or leaving camera screen open.

A: Yes, this is an expected behaviour, as the camera is constantly generating frames.

Q: After “$HOME/.gradle/caches”, you get an error of not being able to find any libraries of GBG IDscan.

A: You need to clean Gradle, Maven and Android Studio caches.

  • Run $ gradle cleanBuildCache or on Windows $ gradlew cleanBuildCache
  • File -> Invalidate Caches / Restart (Android Studio clean caches)
  • At last clean project
  • Try to sync gradle again.

Q: If you receive this Error “Caused by: com.amazonaws.services.s3.model.AmazonS3Exception: Access Denied (Service: Amazon S3; Status Code: 403; Error Code: AccessDenied; Request ID:”

A: Confirm that credentials are set correctly and that you are not trying to access products you are not allowed to. Example: Liveness Requires extra permissions by contract. If you still face issues, please contact your technical account manager (supportcase@idscan.com).

Q: Jetpack features

A: Jetpack features out of the box. If you think there is feature we should support please contact your technical account manager (supportcase@idscan.com) and alert us about it.

Q: If you are facing Error: Unable to resolve dependency for ‘:sample-mjcs@debug/compileClasspath’: Could not resolve com.idscan.ieos:library:0.x.x.x

A: Please check if you added maven credentials from Android Studio – General project setup or if you cleaned “After “$HOME/.gradle/caches”. Please follow the instructions above on how to clean cache.

Q: I received the crash: E/JavaBinder: !!! FAILED BINDER TRANSACTION !!! (parcel size = 5104200)

A: Please be advised that objects implementing Parcelable interface should not be transfered if they contain bitmap images.

Q: Is there a list of Field names for doing SMART_SCAN?

A: All possible field values can be found in Extras: IDESv2 Field ID’s
